Principle Of Compression Air Compressor

Compression air compressor mechanically reduces the volume of gas to increase pressure. The core principle includes three stages: suction, compression, and exhaust. The specific implementation methods vary significantly depending on the type. The main types include piston, screw, centrifugal, vane, axial flow, and rotor. Different models have their own characteristics in terms of efficiency, noise, maintenance cost, etc. ‌‌

‌Basic process of working principle‌

‌Suction stage‌: Negative pressure is formed through the mechanical movement of the cylinder, rotor or impeller to inhale external gas. For example:

Piston type: The piston moves downward to increase the cylinder volume, and the intake valve opens to inhale air; ‌‌
Screw type: The yin and yang rotors rotate to form a low-pressure chamber to inhale gas; ‌‌
Centrifugal type: The high-speed impeller rotates to generate centrifugal force to form a negative pressure area. ‌‌
‌Compression stage‌: Reduce the volume of gas to increase pressure. Typical methods include:

Piston type: the piston moves upward to compress the gas in the closed cylinder; ‌‌
Screw type: the rotor meshes to push the gas to the exhaust end, and the screw groove volume gradually decreases; ‌‌
Centrifugal type: the gas slows down in the diffuser, and the kinetic energy is converted into pressure energy. ‌‌
‌Exhaust stage‌: the compressed gas is discharged through a valve or pipe. The piston compressor will open the exhaust valve after reaching the set pressure, while the screw and centrifugal types are designed for continuous exhaust. ‌‌
