Precautions for Starting Oil-Free Air Compressors After Winter or Long-Term Shutdown

If possible during the shutdown period, try to supply heat to the air compressor. If not, use plastic sheeting or other coverings to shield the compressor from wind and snow as much as possible.

When the air compressor unit is in operation, the temperature is relatively high. After shutdown, due to the low external temperature, a large amount of condensed water will be generated and remain in the pipes. If it is not discharged in time, it may cause blockage, freezing and cracking of the air compressor's exhaust pipe and other equipment in cold winter weather. Therefore, after the air compressor shuts down and cools in winter, be sure to empty all gas, oil dirt and liquid water from the compressor and pipes.

After shutting down for a holiday, ask the operator to turn off the power supply. After opening each drain and blowdown valve, quickly turn the coupling by hand in the direction indicated by the arrow with effort to make the machine body rotate rapidly and discharge as much water from the machine body as possible.

Before starting for the first time after the holiday, check all kinds of valves opened before the holiday. Before the first start-up of the machine (with power off), turn the coupling by hand to check if it operates normally. Only start the machine when there is no abnormality.

Pay attention to the instant start-up. Due to the low ambient temperature, the fluidity of the lubricating oil is weakened, which may cause damage to the machine body. If possible, increase the ambient temperature before starting. Closely monitor the oil injection pressure at the moment of starting. The gear speed of some machines is very high, and if oil injection is not timely, the gears are easily damaged.
