Working Principle of Screw Air Compressor
A screw air compressor is a type of positive displacement air compressor that uses a pair of intermeshing male and female rotors rotating in opposite directions inside a closed casing to generate compressed air.
1. Suction Stage
As the rotors turn, the space between the rotor lobes gradually enlarges, creating negative pressure.Atmospheric air is drawn into the compression chamber through the intake filter and intake valve.
2. Compression Stage
As rotation continues, the suction port is closed, and the enclosed air pocket moves axially toward the discharge end.The volume between the rotors continuously decreases, so the air is gradually compressed, and its pressure and temperature rise accordingly.A small amount of lubricating oil is injected into the chamber during compression, which helps sealing, cooling, and lubrication, reducing wear and noise.
3. Discharge Stage
When the compressed air pocket reaches the discharge port, the compressed air is pushed out at the designed working pressure.The air then flows into the air storage tank or after-treatment system (air dryer, filter) to provide clean, stable compressed air for industrial use.
4. Oil Separation & Circulation
The compressed air mixed with oil enters the oil-gas separator tank, where most oil is separated and recycled back to the compression chamber.Only a very small amount of oil residue is removed by precision filters to ensure clean air output.
